AsiaEngage is a regional platform formed to maximise the strengths of the Asia-Talloires Network of Industry and Community Engaged Universities (ATNEU), the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Thematic Network on University Social Responsibility and Sustainability (AUN-USR&S) and the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP).
All these networks/programme under AsiaEngage aim to create mutually beneficial partnerships between the Research, Education and Volunteerism missions of higher education with community stakeholders across ASEAN and Asia.
Following on from the 2nd ASEAN University Network for University Social Responsibility & Sustainability (AUN USR&S) @AsiaEngage Steering Committee Meeting in June 2013, the Steering Committee members consented and agreed to Universitas Indonesia’s proposal to host the 2nd AsiaEngage Regional Conference 2014. Universitas Indonesia is also an AsiaEngage member.
The unanimous decision was made based on Universitas Indonesia’s strong commitment to uphold high standards in quality education system, global standards research activities and international academic research publications. This is coupled with Indonesia’s strong focus on education, research and contribution to society as roles of the universities (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, or “Three Principles of Higher Education”) since PROPENAS (National Development Programme, 1989-1994) was established.
